Raith Rovers Girls U13s are looking sweet for the new season in their new strips, sponsored by Kirkcaldy-based Chocolate Fountain makers Sephra Europe. The team are pictured in their new strips, with coaches Alex Wilson and David Archer, who is also Managing Director at Sephra Europe.

In a good omen ahead of next season’s Fife derbies in the Scottish Championship, Raith Girls U13s claimed victory over their Pars counterparts last Wednesday. This derby league match was a nailbiter, with the home team eventually gaining the edge in the evening sunshine at Gallatown Park.
Raith started well with probing runs from Fallon Burke and Christina Wilson causing problems for the Dunfermline defence. Then Ellis Yeaman made the breakthrough with a great shot which almost burst the net. She added a second goal a few minutes later although the visitors scored just before half-time to keep them in the game.
The second half saw the home side press again although an equaliser came against the run of play. However, Raith finally managed to convert their pressure into goals, with Christina being in the right place at the right time after the keeper parried, and she calmly knocked the ball in from close range. Ellis and Chloe Hunter both scored late on as Raith consolidated towards the end.
Overall, both teams played well and in the end the match had produced some great football to entertain the sizeable crowd.

The Kirkcaldy girls won a tense match on Saturday against a good Bayside team who kept challenging right to the end. In the first half Raith got the upper hand with a goal from Fallon Burke, with both sides having good spells of play. Midfield dynamo Kirsty Fowler did well to create some good chances but the home side couldn’t convert their pressure into goals.
The second half saw a resurgent Bayside create more openings, however good defensive work from Scarlett Archer and Abigail Wilson held their line well with some excellent tackling. Some tense moments came near the end when it looked like Bayside might score, but the Rovers girls valiantly held on to claim the three points. Coaches Alex and David said after the game, “This was a great game today, a very tight game against a very good team. Well done to all our girls who dug out a great win. The attitude, skill and endeavour made us very proud today.”
